Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESPs) are one of the most widely used artificial lift methods in petroleum industry. However, ESP failures unanticipated and common occurrences with significant financial impacts for operators. Analysis performance essential its design optimization. This paper presents a statistical approach diagnosing evaluating root causes failures. The analysis is based on field data gathered from surface downhole monitoring equipment over five years production 10 wells. general cause failures, accounting 61% all followed by motor failure gas locking.
